This series leans heavily into biomorphic qualities found in the natural world. The forms fill with breath and strive to float upward, swelling into volumes that defy their heft and rigidity. The surface, layered and woven through a process that can only be achieved through 10-15 firings, creates a subtle, but intricate surface that can captivate the imagination and indicate a mortal history. I press form and surface into a visceral language that expresses serenity, hardship, balance and sometimes pain.
