KAS is planning for an artist residency program to give emerging artists an opportunity to work in an environment of collaboration and creative nurture. Artists wishing to work within the disciplines of metals, wood and ceramics will be welcomed in residencies of varying durations.

We anticipate providing classes to introduce and educate the community about visual arts, developing appreciation, skills and aesthetics. Classes will be in a variety of age groups, experience levels and disciplines.

KAS is seeking partnership with mental health organizations and individuals to provide healthy outlets and processes to work through personal trauma. It's our desire to use our facility and passion to aid others in finding ways to reframe and process difficult experiences.

We are excited and captivated with a concept we are developing to have a 1/2 mile walking trail along Cooper Creek, where outdoor sculpture will be displayed. There will also be a few areas of solitude and study, and depending on engineering and regulatory constraints, residents cabins.

Over the course of the next 5 years, we are hoping to add additional pottery wheels, woodworking tools and metal fabrication tools, along with space to store projects and personal tools, with all rent going toward furthering the purpose of KAS

We have not settled on a design yet, but we intend to build a large body, gas fired kiln, possibly with raku capabilities.
